SHAC Closings
The Student Health and Activities Center will be closed on March 9 during College Preview Night.
Courts two and three will close March 8 and reopen at 10 a.m. March 10.
Court one will remain open until 3 p.m. March 9 and will reopen March 10.

Black History Panel Discussion
A panel discussion for Black History Month will take place Feb. 24 in College Hall 100. Look out for further information.

Gently-Used Book Drive Still On
The Literacy Committee is sponsoring a gently-used book drive to collect new and gently-used books. The books will be redistributed to Owens students and their children.
The drive will begin Feb. 21 and run until March 3. Books may be placed in any of the brightly colored bins around campus.
Carl Dietrich and Cory Hoover are Co-Chairs of this collection.

Spring 2005 Transfer Fair
The Spring 2005 Transfer Fair will take place on the Toledo-area Campus Thursday Feb. 24 from 10:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Changes For Southwyck Mall
A local developer is discussing possible renovation or a buy-out for Southwyck Mall. The developer’s name has not yet been made public, but there could be many lucrative changes made to the 58-acre shopping complex.

New Dodge in Toledo
The new Dodge Nitro, introduced at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, may be added to the roster of cars being built here in Toledo. Daimler Chrysler has not confirmed, but according to ABC news, Chrysler is working on having several new cars brought to the Toledo Plant for production.

Ohio May Put Stop To Red Light Cameras
Red light cameras, seen at 13 intersection throughout Toledo, may soon be a thing of the past. The city uses them increase budgets and to reduce accidents, but the Ohio House says a ticket should only be issued if the violation is witnessed by a police officer.

Free Tax Assistance
Several places in the Toledo area are offering free tax assistance to lower- and moderate-income families. The complete list of places can be found on www.13abc.com.

Credit Transfer Changes
Public Universities in the state of Ohio are working to ease the pain of transferring credits. Their goal is to avoid having to repeat courses, paying additional tuition, or delaying graduation for transferring students. The plan may be implemented as early as April 15.

Mega Millions Increase
California will soon join 11 other states to participate in the Mega Millions lottery. The U.S. jackpot record is currently $363 million, however with California now contributing, the jackpot may reach as high as $400 million, said ABC News.

No Strike for Turnpike Workers
Ohio Turnpike workers opted not to strike after approving a three- year contract. The contract gives full-time workers a 3.5 percent pay increase the first year and a three percent increase for the second and third years.
