Classes May Soon Be Cancelled

As another semester starts, students are already hoping for snow or fog days. Students from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, along with many other areas, flock to the Owens campus every day.
Building and grounds keepers arrive on campus as early as 5 AM to provide input on road and weather conditions.
Ultimately Dr. Adams, the president of Owens, has the final say as to whether or not the campus closes, but she is at the top of the chain of about 5 decision makers. Below her is the Provost, Dr. Unger, followed by the President of Business Affairs, Chuck Mann.
“It’s a no win situation,” Mr. Mann says. The roads on the west side of campus may be atrocious, but the roads on the east are clear. There will always be some who will disagree with whatever decision is made. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong answer because the decision is based on opinion.
During the evening, the decision to cancel classes will be mostly up to the instructor. To find out if your class is cancelled, not only can you check your pipeline account, but you could also check your local television or radio station for notice of cancellation.
