There was great success this year at the Annual Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, November 8th, 2012 and put on by the Department of Student Activities. Seven different groups competed to be named the best chili on campus. Among the groups  were: the Owens Campus Pre-School, Ozone, Rotaract & Phi Theta Kappa(combined), Bridge to Success, O’Chili, Chili MacGyver’s SWK Club-Makin’ Somethin’ out of Nothin’, and the Front Desk.
I made a point of trying chili from every station, and I was not disappointed. Each Batch was different, from the spices and vegetables …

With politics being the way they are, it’s nice to see a movie that can take the edge off, and make you laugh til your side hurts.
The Campaign starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are wonderful in this must-see comedy that pushes all the right buttons and gives you that inside look into what politics are really about and what people will do to win. Back stabbing, lies, cheating, corruption, and punching babies. If that’s not enough, you also get an inside look at what really happens when a cop pulls over …

In about a week, I have read all three books of the Hunger Games trilogy. After the first two books, I had very high hopes for the final book. I don’t know what I was expecting from the last book, but it was nothing close to what I expected after the first two.
Katniss Everdeen returns again as she continues to fight the Capitol with old friends and new allies that she doesn’t quite trust. Petta has been taken captive, Gale is getting to fight the fight he’s been dreaming of, …

Many people have seen the Hunger Games movie or read the book.I’ve done both and I was entralled by the story of Katniss Everdeen and her fellow tribute Peeta. After finishing the first book, I could not wait to read the next book Catching Fire.
Suzanne Collins does not disappoint as she continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and how she has to get along in her world after winning the Hunger Game. But she has many challenges ahead of her since the Capitol sees what she’s done as an act …

Like most everyone out there, I’ve heard of the Hunger Games. have an idea of what it’s about. I even went to see the movie. I loved the movie and couldn’t wait wait for the next one to come out. I decided, in the mean time, to read the books. So I started from the top and just finished reading the first book.
I was very impressed by the point of view that Suzanne Collins expressed though the eyes of Katniss Everdeen. It was honest, smart, and really made you look at the …

Owens Tent City U.S.A.

On April 4th, Owens hosted the 7th Annual event called Tent City where students camp out on campus for the night. This event is to raise awareness for the homeless population in our area and to experience what these people go through every night. the students set up tents or built their own cardboard box shelter and decorated them with paint and markers. Since I was staying over night and was without a tent, I got to set up and design my own cardboard home. It was a lot of …

Tonight’s dinner and movie are for those who visit or live in the Perrysburg area. I spent the day with a friend at Levis Commons. It’s a great place to spend a day walking around, shopping, or eating at one of their multiple restaurants before going to enjoy a movie.
We stopped in at Max and Erma’s for a late lunch. I had their potato soup and a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, he had a cheese burger with their seasoned fries, and we both had their homemade chocolate chunk cookies for dessert. Everything about our meals …

Like a lot of students, I spend a lot of time on campus going to class and doing homework (sure we do…). But I can’t live my entire life on campus. We need to get out there and do something fun and crazy every now and then. Something so that when we’re older we can look back and shake our heads, wondering how we didn’t injure ourselves.
Me, I’ve got a lot of hobbies like that. Just last Saturday, March 31st, I went down to Columbus, Ohio to be in a …

FOOD:
For the Findlay area students looking for a fun night out, I’ve got a movie and a restaurant for you to check out.
I decided to go to one of Findlay’s downtown favorite’s on South Main St. Rossilli’s Italian Restaurant. They offer a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, pasta, pizza and desserts. I was there for lunch and ordered their Penna Formaggio. A dish of penna pasta with alfredo sauce, turkey, and mozzarella cheese. The food was served hot, quickly, the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was inviting, and the …
