Such words of wisdom spouted from Patches O’Houlihan in the 2004 film Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story are setting the stage for an Owens Community College throwdown that was inspired by the hit movie starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. With a new advisor and fresh roster of students, the Owens Community College Chess Club has a clean board for the 2011-12 school year.
The club met Tuesday for the first time this semester in order for members to introduce themselves and discuss plans for the upcoming year. At the head of the pack is new advisor Becky Drayton, events specialist at the College’s Office of Auxiliary Services.

Last Monday and Tuesday, the Owens Community College Gamers United club welcomed students to the fall semester in digital fashion. By supplying television stations and a variety of different video games to try out in the SHAC, students were able to meet up with classmates and those new to the college.
For those still interested in gaming events, the club will have a designated space located inside College Hall during the annual Fall Fest event to be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 23. The club will be offering …
