Wednesday, I had the opportunity to flock to the Stroh Center at B.G.S.U. in Bowling Green. The headlining act of the night was Anberlin, with supporting acts Atomic Tom and Switchfoot. The first band to perform was Atomic Tom. The Brooklyn, New York natives, who have been in music since 2005, stared at 7 p.m. I asked a few concert goers who they were and hardly anyone knew of them. I sat down to hear a few of their tunes, first being “Never Let Go” then “You Always Get” and after that “Break My Heart”. I was definitely astonished by how much talent they had. I have listened to a lot of bands, but was happy they were performing that night. A friend of mine has heard of them and has been a fan for a long time. They really did a great job last night. I hope they do come to the Bowling Green/Toledo area again. Band members include: Luke White (lead vocals), Eric Espiritu (guitar, background vocals), Phil Galitzine (bass, background vocals), and Tobias Smith (drums, background vocals). I had a great time listening to them live. The next in line was Switchfoot, who are from San Diego, California. They have been in the music business since 1996 and have released seven studio albums, with their newest being Vice Verses. They played hits from just about every album including “Dark Horses”, “Meant To Live”, and “Dare You To Move”. It was fantastic seeing them live after listening to them for a long time. The crowds were jumping up and down screaming out their favorite songs. The last band was Anberlin. The Winter Haven, Florida residents started in 2002. They were signed to Tooth and Nail Records and then Universal Records. Their most popular album is New Surrender, with hits like “Feel Good Drag” and “Breaking”, which were both performed on Wednesday. Anberlin even brought out the BGSU drum corps. It was definitely a night to remember and I hope all three bands swing by again in the area.
