The tour book party was held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm in the AV building of the Toledo campus at Owens Community College. The party, sponsored by Student Government, was to celebrate everyone who had gotten stamps on their tour books throughout the semester.
Tour books were stamped as students attended various events such as Fall Fling, the 9/11 memorial, Halloween Alternative and other activities. Many of the events were free of charge for students.
The party gave students time to relax and enjoy time with friends. Games such as Uno, Operation, Battleship and playing cards were on tables for students to play. Foot and back massage machines were set up for students to enjoy. Free refreshments were offered, such as fresh popped popcorn, cheese popcorn, caramel corn, candy and lemonade. Several door prizes were given, including t-shirts and discount cards.
A wonderful demonstration was given by the Martial Arts Club. The Owens Community College club features various martial arts forms and is open to Owens Students, staff, faculty, and alumni. New martial artists up to fourth degree black belts are currently in the club, so there are many skill levels. Eric LaVoie said that they currently have a goal to represent Owens in martial arts tournaments.
Vickie Adams represented Veterans Services to inform students who served in the military about help available to them. For information about Veterans Services at Owens Community College, please email vets@owens.edu.
A raffle was planned for the event to give away larger prizes such as a stereo, a large snack basket, 3 credit hours, dinner and a movie at the mall, and other prizes, but because attendance was much lower than usual, the raffle has been postponed until Monday, November 19, 2012. Students who have stamps on their tour book are asked to turn them in to SHAC room 165 by 4:00 pm for a chance to win. VIDEO0103

Great party
Hope more people turn in books

If I took more classes on campus (most of mine are online right now) I would definitely be more involved in these types of things! Is there anything we online students can participate in?
