WASP SPRAY can SAVE your LIFE
By Dawn Thayer
Wasp spray…who knew ???
I know some of you own guns, have taken martial arts classes and even self-defense but this is something to think about…
If you don’t have any of these things or even if you do, here’s a more humane way to wreck someone’s evil plans for you.
Did you know this? I didn’t. I had never really thought of it before either.
Wasp Spray !!!
A friend who is a receptionist in a church, in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.
The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn’t attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.
Today society is not as safe as it was several years ago. There are far more break- ins and people getting attacked, gang activity going on.
Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School . For decades, he’s suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.
Glinka says, “This is better than anything I can teach them.”
Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot
20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says “spray the culprit in the eyes”. It’s a tip he’s given to students for decades.
It’s also one he wants everyone to hear. If you’re looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray.
“That’s going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out..”
Maybe even save a life.
Did you also know…wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will!

Hello Ms. Thayer…Stop perpetuating this internet myth. You do not have a freind who is a receptionist at a church. The local police department did not recommend wasp spray. This exact same email and blog post has been circling the internet for years. It is not true. Wasp spray is not more accurate. Wasp spray manufacturers do not recommend using it to stop humans. It has never been tested and shown to be effective at incapacitating humans.
Wasp spray for self defense is a bad idea. It is a myth! Stick with the Pepper Spray. Wasp spray is unproven and has never been tested on humans. Wasp Spray will NOT work on those who cannot feel pain i.e. drugs or alcohol. Pepper Spray is an inflammatory which will cause the eyes to slam shut no matter the situation. That’s why over 40,000 law enforcement agencies carry it nationwide and even the smallest canisters will fire 10 ft while the larger canisters will fire 25 to 30 ft.
I have used this method a few times in the past, and have talked to the cops about it and my self defense coach. So this article does carry weight whether or not you choose to heed the advice or not. I have also several friends who are church receptionists as I am very big in my local Christian community. My neighbors and my church do keep wasp spray readily available. Just saying that i dont just post anything without checking my sources etc… take it or leave it.
