another holiday recipe
SPICED PUDDING SQUARES:
Yields approximately 24 squares
Prep time: 25 minutes
total time : 2 hours, 25 minutes
1/2 cup melted butter then cooled
1 egg
1 pkg spiced cake mix ( or make from scratch)
1 pkg (3.4 oz) vanilla flavor instant pudding
1 cup cold milk
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground all spice
1/8 ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cup thawed cool whip
2 tbsp toffee bits
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375ºF. Mix first 3 ingredients just until blended; press onto bottom of 13×9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.

This is a very simple, yet elegant way to serve asparagus. I created this recipe several years ago, and even people who claim to not like asparagus eat these up! These would make a nice addition to any holiday table.
20 minutes to make. Serves 4
Ingredients
10 Spears of asparagus, end trimmed
1/2 of an 8 oz block of cream cheese , slightly softened
1 t. garlic powder
1 T. Italian seasoning
10 slices white bread, crust cut off
3 T. butter or Margarine, melted
5-8 t. Parmesan cheese

Need something to do with all of those left over zucchini from your garden? This is a recipe I created several years ago that my family enjoys. I hope you will enjoy it as well.
25-30 minutes to make. Serves 4
Ingredients
1 lg zucchini
1 med. banana pepper
1 10.5 oz can cream of chicken soup
1 c. cooked chicken, shredded
1 c. shredded Colby cheese
Directions
Slice zucchini in 1/2 lengthwise and scoop out inside, reserving the squash you scooped out.
Place zucchini shells, hallow side up, on an un-greased cookie sheet.

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Owens Community College’s Office of Veterans Services is looking to spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate children by collaborating with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and hosting its second annual Toy Drive, Nov. 27 – Dec. 12.
Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 27, Veterans Services, in collaboration with the Office of Human Resources, will accept new and unwrapped toys as part of a collaborative effort with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Finishes Fourth in NJCAA National Championship Tournament
PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH – The Owens Community College women’s volleyball team recently completed one of its most successful seasons in program history finishing fourth among 16 teams in the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Owens served as the host site for the national tournament.
Owens totaled two victories and two loses during the three-day double elimination consolation tournament. Tournament wins came against Kirkwood Community College and Iowa Central Community College. The Express’ tournament loses were to Cowley County Community College and Parkland College. This …

With the holidays just around the corner I thought I would start sharing some festive recipes that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Today We will start with :
Cumin Pumpkin Soup – Yield approximately 1 quart- 32 oz.
Prep time 5-10 minutes
cook time 10- 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 lb. Fresh Pumpkin puree or [1 - 15 ounce can pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling)]
1 1/2 cups Chicken stock or Vegetable stock
1 cup low-fat milk

The AIDS Resource Center of Toledo will be holding an event to celebrate the lives of people who are fighting HIV/AIDS as well as to honor those that have lost the battle. World AIDS Day HIV Speaks, will be held at 1717 Adams St. Toledo, Ohio on November 30, 2012 from 7pm-10 pm. Admission to the event is $5 per person with proceeds going to ARC Ohio’s Toledo office.

Tour Book Party

The tour book party was held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm in the AV building of the Toledo campus at Owens Community College. The party, sponsored by Student Government, was to celebrate everyone who had gotten stamps on their tour books throughout the semester.
Tour books were stamped as students attended various events such as Fall Fling, the 9/11 memorial, Halloween Alternative and other activities. Many of the events were free of charge for students.

As the Fall Semester nears an end, many students are about to reach the pinnacle of their academic careers by receiving a college diploma. However, the parties and celebrations that follow the pomp and circumstance quickly subside after a few days and in many instances the graduate’s cap and gown are placed in storage or discarded entirely. Owens Community College’s Student Government is encouraging past college and university graduates to help future graduating classes by donating their garb to those less fortunate as part of a Graduation Donation Program.
