Owens Center for Fine and Performing Arts Welcomes Core Ensemble’s ‘Of Ebony Embers’ Performance

Experience a unique artistic performance developed by Core Ensemble that features a theatrical narrative to chamber music as Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts presents “Of Ebony Embers: Vignettes of the Harlem Renaissance” Feb. 24.

Owens Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery Presents ‘Women Working Together’ Fiber Exhibit

A wide variety of fiber media and techniques to create individual and collaborative works will be featured in the Owens Community College Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery as part of an exhibit titled “Women Working Together”, Feb. 21 – March 23. The Walter E. Owens Findlay-area Campus Presents ‘In Full Bloom’ Painting Exhibit

Vibrant, colorful paintings depicting flowers and landscapes by artist Nancy Wikoff Leetch will serve as focus to the current art exhibition on Owens Community College’s Findlay-area Campus as the Library Gallery presents “In Full Bloom”, Feb. 20 – March 23.

Area high school students will put their knowledge of tractors to the test as they compete in the 19th annual FFA District I Agricultural and Industrial Diagnostics Contest at Owens Community College Feb. 24.
The contest will occur from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the College’s Transportation Technologies Center on the Toledo-area Campus.
Presented by the College’s Transportation Technologies, the contest will involve high school teams, consisting of two students, completing various testing to determine their expertise of tractors. As part of the practical skills competition, teams will be required to …

More than 100 public and private colleges and universities from Ohio and the surrounding states will visit the Toledo area as Owens Community College serves as host to Northwest Ohio’s largest College Preview Night March 7.
Established in 1987, the event will occur from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the counseling staffs of 21 local high schools and Owens. College tables will be set up in Owens’ Student Health and Activities Center and presentations will be held in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts and the Audio/Visual Classroom Center. …

Owens Community College students were recently honored for their academic accomplishments in business, earning membership into the Kappa Beta Delta International Honor Society.
Kappa Beta Delta was established in 1997 as an international honor society exclusively for Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accredited two-year business programs.

More than 80 colleges and universities from Ohio and the surrounding states will visit the Findlay area as the Owens Community College Findlay-area Campus serves as host to Greater Hancock County College Night March 5. The event will occur from 6:30-8 p.m.
The counseling staffs of nine local high schools in the surrounding area are co-sponsoring the annual event, which is being held at the Owens Findlay-area Campus Community Education and Wellness Center. Admission to the college preview night is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The Owens Community College Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses, as well as the Arrowhead Park Learning Center in Maumee and the Learning Center at The Source in downtown Toledo, will be closed Friday-Sunday, March 2-4, for Mid-Semester Break. There will be no classes and the College offices will be closed for business. Administrative offices will be open again on Monday, March 5, while classes will resume on Monday, March 12.

Owens Community College has named F. Jack Witt III as the new Vice President of Human Resources. His responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects related to the administrative leadership, coordination and development of initiatives within the academic institution’s Office of Human Resources.
In addition, his new position will entail providing leadership and oversight in labor and employee relations, employment, compensation, benefits, EEO/employee relations, training, progression and succession, quality/planning facilitation, and diversity and inclusion, among other areas.
