Owens will offer area residents the opportunity to view and learn more about the academic institution’s new Owens Harvest Food Pantries initiative on the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses as part of open house events.

More than 120 Owens Community College students were recently bestowed honorary pins by the Nursing Department for their academic achievements specific to registered nursing and practical nursing during a ceremony on the Findlay-area Campus. The pinning ceremony is part of a traditional nursing practice, which honors students prior to beginning their careers within the health care community.

Photo Seminar at Owens teaches Chromakey

Don Hileman of New Vision Photography in Austintown, Ohio, gave a Chromakey seminar on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The seminar, that was put together by the Professional Photographers of Northwest Ohio (PPNO) and the Owens Photography Club, was held in the AV building at Owens Community College.
An all day event, the seminar covered how to take photos using a green screen and adding backgrounds to them after they are taken. Guests were taught how to use posing stands in place of props, properly light subjects while using …

Area residents interested in gaining insight into “Jewish History and Anti-Semitism” are invited to attend a free lecture presentation by Rabbi Alan Mayor Sokobin at the Owens Community College Findlay-area Campus Feb. 2.
Presented by the Office of Student Activities, Sokobin’s lecture and open dialogue will occur from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the College’s Conference Center Room 111 on the Findlay-area Campus. Area residents are invited to put their taste buds to the test as Owens Community College students serve as host to a Chili Cook-Off fundraising event Jan. 31.
The Chili Cook-Off will occur from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the College’s Student Health and Activities Center. Owens is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The Foundation wants to encourage as many students as possible to submit their scholarship application and essay to any OSERVE location by February 15, 2012.  There are more than 150 scholarships available to both full- and part-time students to help pay for tuition, fees and books.
