Owens Community College held a Princess Ball on Saturday, November 12, 2011. The Ball, a father and daughter dance, was a benefit to raise money for Kids Count Too, Inc, a foster care agency in Bowling Green, OH.
Tickets were sold in advance for $10 per father/daughter couple and $5 for each additional daughter. Tickets were $15 if purchased at the door with the same $5 additional daughter charge.
According to Nicole Lance, the advisor for the Raising Awareness Club, Black Student Union provided the DJ for the event, while Raising Awareness Club and Black Student Union planned the rest of the event. Refreshments were served, photos could be taken in front of a light up castle back drop and there was a large area for dancing.
Lance said that they expected around 100 participants. This number proved to be underestimated as over 1,000 fathers and daughters arrived for the event. Over $4,600 was raised for Kids Count Too, Inc. and Raising Awareness (Black Student Union).
